What I Needed

Emma and Payton are quite the talkers. Not only do they repeat, they tell me things, show me things, ask about things... Today (yikes, now yesterday), I was sitting on the floor in the living room watching them play. Payton was going from toy to toy; Emma was building with the blocks. She stopped what she was doing ~ and came to me. She looked me straight in the eye and said "I love you, Mommy." That was the first time she initiated it ~ and those words (expression, spirit, presence) were the best words I have ever, ever heard!

I loved the first time my boys told me they loved me!! I still remember it and it just makes me smile. My youngest now tells me about a 100 times a day that he loves me and sometimes it is to get out of trouble :)

Oh you are so lucky. My twins are SUCH SLOW TALKERS I would be thrilled to just hear them say "car" much less I love you!

I do remember when my older son said it the first time. At almost 5, it still comes out spontaneously only rarely, and it STILL sends me over the moon!
