Today I turned thirty! I have been celebrating pretty much all week. It started on Tuesday with a birthday get together with my Bachelor Babes! I had a great time relaxing and enjoying being the youngest one there.
Thursday night, my best friend, Monica, came in from Oklahoma. Friday morning, we got up and headed for the train station. We could not find parking in my town, so we drove to the next town. We found parking that was free after 12 pm ... it was 10:30 am. Do I chance a ticket or drive into the city? I chanced the ticket and enjoyed a relaxing train ride to the city. Once in Chicago, we headed straight for Marshall Field's (REFUSE TO SAY MACY'S). We were there several hours shopping and looking. We ate at the Walnut Room. It was delicious!
Then we headed to Old Navy. Because of how cold it was, we hopped into a cab and went to Crate & Barrel on Michigan Avenue. It was super crowded, but we enjoyed shopping there. We made a few quick stops into a few more stores, and headed back to the train station. I was so thankful we did not have to fight evening rush hour to get back home. Later in the evening, we met up with our friends, Stephanie and Renee, for dinner and a movie. We enjoyed laughing and eating!
Saturday, Andy, the kids, Monica and I got up early and went to our church's kiddo Christmas breakfast. Emma and Payton sang two songs and rang bells (okay, Emma did not sing). They held hands the whole time. The enjoyed watching the rest of the little play. Once we left there, we all headed out for more shopping. Late morning, the snow started. Snow turned to sleet that turned to ice. We got home, and relaxed for a little while. That evening, Monica watched the kids while Andy and I went to dinner. It was very nice and fabulous.
Today, Sunday, is my actual birthday. We went to church this morning, where our Sunday School class reminded me of how young I am. Thanks! Monica and I hit the mall before she left on the afternoon flight back to Oklahoma. A senior in high school came over around 4:30 pm so Andy and I could go to see Casting Crowns in concert. What an awesome concert!!
I had a wonderful birthday. There have been people in my life who have hated turning thirty. This week, I embraced it and had a great time celebrating! Thank you to everyone who participated in making this a special day!
