This morning the kids and I went to the store for food. As we exited the car, I reminded them of the rules: No Running Around, No Hitting, No Screaming, Be Helpful. If there are issues, in the cart you go!
Payton was the first in the cart. Within minutes, I had to switch Payton for Emma. Emma screamed throughout the entire store. I kept ignoring, which really bothers her, and she kept screaming. I felt bad for all the moms in the store who were alone and having to hear her...but I was not going to bribe her or leave.
In the chip aisle, a woman (basket full, make-up on, long perfect hair) said "It gets better. Hang in there." I politely said thank you. A few aisles later, another mom (just as nice looking) said "They are beautiful children. You are doing a great job. Keep up the good work. It gets easier."
I knew that people would be maybe annoyed, but I was surprised by the encouragement. I got in the car and remembered that I did not have on make-up and my hair was drying naturally. I am sure I looked frazzled ~ but I was fine.
